WriterBoost
is designed to build upon the ideas developed in ReaderBoost
and focuses on developing written expression.
This programme uses a sequenced approach to writing where
the children are taught to brainstorm, plan, draft and
edit their work, in line with the scaffolding approach
introduced here.

A fundamental part of all BoosterBooks
programmes is the issue of function. There are no situations
in real life, apart from in school, where individuals
write without knowing something about the purpose and
audience for writing. It is these specifics that shape
how, when and what we write, including the medium we choose.
In WriterBoost teachers
will find a developmental curriculum that links the structural
components of writing (vocabulary, grammar, punctuation)
to purpose and intention.
However immature a child’s grasp of writing, WriterBoost
provides an appropriate entry point for teaching and learning.
