ReaderBoost
presents children with a highly motivating context or
‘paradigm’ for a new and captivating encounter
with books, whatever children’s prior experiences
of reading, and even when children have many years of
‘failure’.

In ReaderBoost children work
in a team, with an adult acting as scribe, to construct
a story around the group’s chosen topic and reflecting
their own imagery, vocabulary and grammar.
|
An essential
element of ReaderBoost is the co-creation of a script
between adult and children which is then read by the group
and forms the basis for ‘dialogues’ around
text. With adult scaffolding the children become story-makers,
readers, illustrators and publishers, working towards
the outcome of a real printed book.
