“BoosterBooks is an exciting, innovative and evidence-based approach to literacy teaching and learning. Uniquely, in contrast to most of what passes for 'learning support', BoosterBooks is based on what motivates children to learn”

Based upon experience and recent research into effective teaching and learning, BoosterBooks offers a range of programmes, assessment and tuition services for children, young people and adults. All services are provided by Registered BoosterBooks Outreach Teachers and are available both in and out of school, and other establishments.

BoosterBooks Programmes
BoosterBooks Programmes generally run in school during literacy hour, but may also be provided out of school hours. Following assessment, the children work in a team of 4 with a BoosterBooks Outreach Teacher and are seen for an hour each day for a period of 5 weeks.

Specifically designed for each team, BoosterBooks programmes are suitable for children and young people of all ages and abilities.

ReaderBoost is the main programme where the children are given the opportunity to become story-makers, readers, illustrators and publishers, working towards the outcome of a real printed book.

WriterBoost
is designed to build upon the ideas developed in ReaderBoost and focuses on developing written expression. Children are taught a sequenced approach to writing and given opportunities for writing for different purposes and audiences.

SpellerBoost aims to help children learn to spell those words which are of most use to them. They are taught to use a range of strategies to help them learn to spell words they wish to use in their own writing.

EarlyBoost is designed for children in Early Years (KS 1). This is a 3 week programme providing a general boost in confidence, self-esteem, reading, writing and spelling.

BoosterClub offers one and two-week programmes which run during school holidays.

Assessment and Tuition
BoosterBooks Outreach Teachers offer an assessment and tuition service in and out of school hours. Tuition may be offered on an individual or 1:2 basis. Sessions are one hour in duration and take place twice a week for half a term (5 to 7 weeks). As with all BoosterBooks Programmes, tuitions are specifically designed to meet the needs of the individual/s involved.

BoosterBooks Educational Assessment
BoosterBooks Outreach Teachers may carry out Educational Assessments for parents who are concerned about their children’s progress in school. Educational Assessments are generally carried out in school.

BoosterBooks Educational Psychology Service provides teachers and other professionals with the opportunity to seek advice and support from a Chartered Educational Psychologist.
